How a developer is learning marketing
Hey there!
I'm a developer. I can build applications. I can’t sell them.
That’s why I’m learning marketing and started this blog, where I’ll be writing about marketing for developers. But first, a few words about who I am and why I decided to start this whole thing.
Who am I?
Good question. On a daily basis, I work as a .NET and Angular developer (and in my spare time I also click around in Next.js). I mainly work on implementing and developing Dynamics CRM solutions for companies. Outside of coding, I’m also into leathercraft and run my own brand FW Leathercraft where I create handmade minimalist wallets, pocket organizers, watch straps, and belts. I also enjoy photography. A man of many talents - at least that’s what my slightly overgrown ego likes to say.
Why this blog?
I’ve always liked building things. I’m told I’m relatively creative, so I don’t really struggle with ideas. I’m not a huge fan of reading theory for the sake of theory (although I know it’s sometimes necessary). I prefer to start doing, learn as I go, and figure things out in practice. I have ideas. But whether they’re good or not - that’s a different story. And here’s the core issue. Whether it’s my leathercraft brand or a future SaaS product, I need to reach potential customers somehow.
From what I’ve seen, many developers want to build their own applications. Technical skills usually aren’t the problem. The real struggle begins when it’s time to acquire customers. Hosting the app is not enough. You have to reach people.
That’s what I want to learn.
You might build the best product in the world - but what’s the point if nobody knows it exists?

That’s how I realized I need to learn marketing. But instead of consuming theory endlessly, I wanted a playground to test things in practice. That’s how this blog was born. Here, I’ll practice SEO. I’ll learn how to write better posts. I’ll experiment with getting my site to rank in Google. I’ll test what makes people convert (and what conversion actually means in the first place). This is my learn in public experiment. Writing about what I learn helps me structure my thoughts. And I hope it will also help other developers or technical people who find themselves in the same situation - knowing how to build an app, but not how to sell it.
Why Is Marketing a Problem for Developers?
As developers, we often focus too much on technical details. We add new features. We refactor. We optimize.
But at some point, we need to say STOP and ship.
The market doesn’t reward beautiful code. Customers reward solutions to their problems.
